Ozark Avalon - 12th Annual Church Meeting
08/31/2008
Meeting called to order by Rose Wise. An attendance sheet was circulated
and is attached, with 42 persons in attendance.
Annual Revenue Statement
Copies of the Annual Revenue Statement were circulated and reviewed. The
2007 total income for Ozark Avalon was $46,293.53 and the total expenses
were $41,948.62, resulting in a gross revenue income of $4,344.91 for the
calendar year 2007. A copy of the Revenue Statement is attached.
Improvements
With the surplus this year, the following improvements were made:
electricity service was upgraded, the dam at Lake Gaia was repaired, $2000
went towards gravel for the driveway and the road through the campground, a
new riding lawn mower and a self-propelled mower were purchased. Rose
asked for suggestions for further improvements and/or other fundraising
events. Current fundraising events include Midwest Burners events, Earth
Day, Pagan Picnic and Pagan Pride.
New Oak Spirits
The following new Oak Spirits were recognized and presented with individual
certificates:
Duane Johnson, SummerLynx, Josie Lutz, Robin Lutz, and Twilight
Upcoming Magickal Hibernation
Rose reminded everyone that Magickal Hibernation will be held in late
February 2009 and will be at the Inn of The Grand Glaize again this year.
There will be many vendors, workshops and the Adult Pajama Party again this
year. There will be a few opportunities for folks to do work exchange in
return for fees, but they need to be pre-arranged with Rose.
Green Cemetery
The proposal for a Green Cemetery on the land at Ozark Avalon was approved
with no objections. We must still, however, meet all state standards and
requirements regarding communicable diseases and other issues.
Unfortunately, this will not be a free service, even for church members. A
donation fee will be required to help cover costs of upkeep, smaller if
prepaid, greater if paid after death.
Harvest 2009
Harvest Homecoming 2009 will celebrate the 13th anniversary of the beginning
of Ozark Avalon Church of Nature. Plans are to hopefully make it a grand
celebration.
Other business:
There have been fewer trespasses this past year, due in part to the
cooperation of the Cooper County Law Enforcement officials. They are now
helping to catch and hopefully prosecute the persons who are trespassing and
harassing the residents of Ozark Avalon.
Questions and comments from attendees:
* Orpon talked about the things that need to be done on site to help
with upkeep and to prepare for festivals and the camping season. He asked
that everyone try to help out on the work weekends, not just the same few
persons who always show up. There are always tasks that can be done by
anyone, even indoors.
* Rose noted that both current trailers will be available for
occupancy in the next few months. Consideration will be given to families,
roommates, individuals and/or couples. Rental price will be based upon
occupancy needs.
* Rose also noted that hopefully there will be a community garden next
spring. The harvest will be shared among those who help.
There being no further business at this time, the meeting concluded.
